A better experience for millions of users

The foundation of Divar was created when one of our founders was in Europe and seeking to sell a second-hand device. He did this using an online platform, and this experience, that is, the easy sale of a product on a website, sparked the creation of Divar in 2011. Divar’s initial version was created by three founders and had less than 50 ads per day in its first years. Today, our platform hosts 350,000 ads per day.
Divar is an online platform where people can see their needs met. Users can address these needs by posting ads and viewing the ads of other users in various categories, including real estate, vehicles, electronics, home appliances, business services, entertainment, and many more.
The services of posting and viewing ads on Divar are available to users on all popular platforms, including Android, iOS, and other interfaces. The Divar Android application has had the highest number of downloads and installs in the country in successive years with more than 50 million installs on Android phones. The service of publishing and searching ads on Divar is currently available to users in more than 200 cities around the country.
Since 2019, to provide more efficient services to firms, Divar launched dedicated services for active businesses on its platform so that business owners can sell their goods and services on dedicated pages with increased speed and ease. These new features include the dedicated panel and real estate agencies and consultants, the dedicated panel for car showrooms, and the Divar store panel.
The Divar store panel was created in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic so that sellers of goods can produce an online store and their exclusive section on Divar where they could draw the attention of tens of millions of potential customers.
Using a strong infrastructure and advanced technologies, Divar strives to further develop and improve the process of online commerce and the user experience. Using tools such as cloud infrastructure, machine learning, image processing, natural language processing and other modern technologies, Divar's technical and support teams improve the process of publication, search, filtering, and communication in advertisements for users.
Divar's mission is to use technology and scalable solutions to make smart connections between people and to enable users to buy and sell online.Divar 1400's report

The cornerstone of Divar is the development of the circular economy. To reduce the environmental consequences and carbon footprint, as well as preserve natural resources, water, and energy, Divar pursues a green path toward social responsibility and achieving its objectives. At Divar, seedlings have sprouted and are flourishing to achieve social justice in society through the development of sustainable e-commerce, empowering small businesses, attracting talent, and promoting the development of knowledge and expertise. Additionally, a key priority for Divar is a special focus on increasing the security of transactions and the integrity of user interactions and, in general, facilitating the growth of trust among parties in the commerce of goods and services on our platform. We endeavor to secure a healthy environment by fighting fraud and combating gender-based harassment. All these efforts are aimed at providing a healthy and secure experience for our users.
We will work hand-in-hand to strive towards social responsibility and pursue our goals in a way that would facilitate Divar fulfilling its responsibilities toward society and the environment.

The Circular Economy and Environmental Sustainability

Promoting the Circular Economy

To optimize the use of natural resources, water, and energy as well as reduce waste and pollutants, Divar provides a platform that promotes the circular economy, and the exchange of second-hand goods, and encourages people to consume consciously and responsibly.

387,556,000 liters

The volume of water saved as a result of transactions involving more than 52 thousand laptops through Divar

18,200,000 Kilograms

The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the air as a result of the transaction of more than 140 thousand microwaves through Divar

52,002,000 Megajoules

Energy saved from the transaction of more than 486 thousand mobile phones through Divar.

The circular economy campaign and the effort to promote the knowledgeable and responsible acquisition of second-hand goods instead of new items to help preserve the environment and natural resources were implemented in March 2021. Measuring the results of the campaign demonstrates a growing public awareness of the positive impact of buying and selling second-hand products on the environment as well as the public’s intention to enhance their usage of second-hand products.

Results from the Zagros Forests Initiative

At Divar, we strongly believe in protecting the environment for future generations, preventing the loss of natural forests and green spaces, and making every effort to avoid the heavy and often irredeemable costs of the loss of natural environmental resources.
The Zagros campaign was established in the summer of 2021 to raise awareness in society about the issues about the Zagros forests (Western Iranian mountain range forests) and help volunteer groups working on controlling fires in that region. As part of this campaign, Divar has forbidden any transactions or ads on the commerce of forest charcoal as well.

Donation of 25 pieces of fire suppression equipment to fight fires.
Donation of 100 sets of protective attire for local people.
Prohibition on the trading of charcoal on Divar.

The “Let's Adopt Pets, Not Buy Them” Campaign

Animal breeding (“puppy mills”) is a profitable business in which dogs and cats are forced to reproduce constantly. This unethical trade results in mother animals suffering a wide variety of serious diseases. At Divar, we decided to take steps toward protecting the rights of animals and, to the extent we can, prevent the growth of unethical commercial activity involving “puppy mills” in the country. Therefore, since June 26th, 2022, the buying and selling of dogs and cats through Divar was prohibited, and the publication of advertisements for related breeding services has been heavily restricted. Only those seeking to rehome dogs and cats older than two months of age are authorized to place ads on Divar. The “Let's Adopt Pets, Not Buy Them” campaign also strives to raise awareness about the harm committed by animal breeding mills and encourage pet adoption.

Sustainable Society

The “Pass the Play On” Initiative

To help build a better and more empathetic society, Divar considers partaking in charitable activities an important part of its social responsibility function. Divar prides itself in having a dynamic role concerning charitable activities. As so, we partner with institutions such as the Angelic Children's Charity, the Ethics Commission of the National Olympic and Paralympics Committee, and prominent athletes to distribute toys in underserved areas in different provinces of the country. The Pass the Play On initiative was implemented in November of 2021 and has been providing toys to children in underserved communities since.

Initiative on Combating Sexual Harassment

Verbal harassment is prevalent towards women in online spaces. Sadly, as Divar is a platform for commerce in products and services, our platform has not been entirely free of such behavior. A small number of users have abused the option of anonymity afforded to them by the platform to engage in such egregious behavior hoping to avoid due repercussions. We have employed a variety of tools to confront this issue. Additionally, in March of 2021, coinciding with International Women’s Day, we initiated the No Place For Harassers Campaign to encourage women to report cases of harassment and inappropriate behavior on Divar’s chat feature so that the offending parties can be properly investigated and blocked.

Divar sends default messages to users (both purchasers and providers) before starting a transaction to guide them on how to interact and behave properly in the chat during the conducting of a transaction as well as to report inappropriate behavior.

The report of any violation, harassment, or insult by the user directly or through the Divar chat is assessed by Divar experts. If the report’s veracity is confirmed, the offending user's account or his ability to chat will be blocked. The result of this process will be provided to the complainant party within one hour.

Divar’s support team deems itself responsible for protecting the privacy of users and confronting issues such as violence and harassment of women on our platform. We continuously strive to enhance the quality of our response to reports and input from users and the community.

On the Divar platform, in addition to experts and analysts who assess violations of our community standards, 40 artificial intelligence features are also active to detect inappropriate content.

Initiative to Combat Fraud

Divar is built on values such as integrity, honesty, and trust. Every day, millions of people go to Divar to buy or sell their goods or acquire their desired goods and services easily and without intermediaries. We are proud that such a large number of our fellow Iranians have trusted Divar and tied various parts of their daily lives to our platform. To protect this trust, we always strive to maintain the health of the platform and run different campaigns to inform users about avoiding and dealing with fraud. Divar users can help us maintain the integrity of the Divar platform by reporting any violation if they face harassment, insults, or detect fraud. After Divar experts verify the veracity of the report, the offending party’s account will be removed and the reporting user will be informed of the results. In addition to managing user reports, the Divar platform security team actively works to reduce fraud, phishing, spam, and online harassment. Additionally, in December 2021 and May 2022, Divar implemented campaigns to encourage users to report fraudulent ads in the digital goods, home, kitchen, and personal items categories, as well as in the employment and job search category.
